A very popular London cheap eat is in a 300-year old...crypt! Yes! Cafe in the Crypt, in St. Martin-in-the-Fields church, offers nice crumbles, afternoon tea & much more under lovely brick arches.
You can pop in for live jazz or just enjoy dining atop bodies :) (Charles II's famed mistress, Nell Gwyn, is somewhere there).

Such amazing architecture! I love the ambiance and definitely would dine there. Happy Monday.
Hi Vicky - Thanks for stopping by! :)
Hi Stacey - Yeah, despite he "crypt" factor, I think people flock there for the great ambiance! Happy Monday!
kinda creepy but sounds interesting!
Hi Kat - that was my initial reaction too! But the butter pudding and crumble - and architecture - are worth checking out :)
How cool! I have always wanted to go to London. I'll definitely be going to this place when/if I go!
Hi Dancing Branflake - Thanks for visiting - I think you'd enjoy it! (Cheap eat, but with a twist) ;-)
HI Lisa - thanks so much (and also for, haha, sharing this *oddity* of a post on August Break :))! It's a nice spot, weirdly...hope you'll have a chance to visit (and I'm visualizing the amazing photos you'd get! :))
Now I want to go eat here.
Thanks for sharing this. The architecture is worth taking a peak.
Hi Ashley - yes, while it's not haute cuisine, it's lively, fun and affordable (for London!) - with the bonus lovely, brick-vaulted arches :) Thanks so much for dropping by!
