Sunrise in Florence, Italy

The Arno River, Florence
Digital cameras keep getting better, but there's something I find romantic about film. This fuzzy shot was from a disposable camera I toted through Italy and multiple Italian rainstorms (yet lasted!).

P.S. For the full effect, try this Puccini aria (used in A Room with a View), about throwing oneself into Florence's Arno River over tormented love. Dame Kiri Te Kanawa's voice makes me weepy.

Such a gorgeous sunrise! And I've never seen A Room with a View, though I've read the book and have always wanted to. Maybe this weekend...

i love the softness that film gives a picture. you can try to recapture that with picnik or photoshop or something like that, but film just gives off this natural glow. so pretty!

This only goes to prove it's not the equipment that makes great images, but the photographer! And I LOVE Puccini. Thank you for making my afternoon!

Beautiful pairing. I just listened to that song and stared at your photo and now am feeling quite relaxed. Loved that movie btw. Kind of feeling like pulling out one of my old polariods now.

Florence's Arno! I know it well as I used to look out over it every day when I lived in the city -- which really is like living in a postcard!

Your picture is wonderful. What a scene to take in!! I love the disposable cameras, too. Digital is great, but there's nothing like the old school. I guess I'm officially getting "mature". oy
