A Single Man revelation

Colin Firth and Julianne Moore in "A Single Man" (via)

I was all set to do a food post today, but then I curled up with "A Single Man" on DVD last night and, oh well, so much for food! Not only did Colin Firth deserve all the acting praise for this film...

Hugh Grant and young Nicholas Hoult in "About A Boy" (via)
But I couldn't believe Nicholas Hoult! This young actor went from being the cute little boy (above) from "About a Boy"...

Nicholas Hoult, all grown up, in "A Single Man" (via)
To this cute (in a different sense!) young man in "A Single Man"! :)

P.S. Nicholas Hoult was popular as a teen in the British TV series "Skins," but many Americans (and even Brits) didn't see Skins, so the "Single Man" revelation is pretty drastic!

P.P.S. Since Tom Ford directed A Single Man, every frame is fashion-ad-worthy, naturally...

{As you can see, the movie features an unnaturally high abundance of great bone structure.}

I don't how i haven't seen this film. I love to watch movies at home. Anyway, i will have to put it on my list and yes, there are some amazing bone structure featured! I love great bone structure-it's like great architecture!:-). The actor from About a Boy is all grown up now too. Makes me feel old:-). Happy Wednesday Jude!

Hi Kirsty - just for the Tom Ford-y images, it's great viewing! :)

Hi Vicky - it's fun to see for the fashion, for sure!

Hi Stacey - I LOVE the comparison with great architecture!! So true :) And I know, I felt exactly the same way about seeing the About a Boy actor all grown up...(sigh, old age!...though I bet your adorable one keeps you on your toes & super-young at heart :)

I cannot wait to see this movie! I saw Tom Ford on Oprah discussing the movie and his motivation towards each scene and I immediately wanted to see it. I must look for it now that it is out!!

Hi FASHION DOOHICKEy - Jon Kortajarena was great! Model-looks of course, but I think he's got some acting potential too :)

I too waited to see this on DVD & it actually sat unopened for far too long because once I actually watched it, I was mesmerized. Achingly beautiful & yes, I too was surprised by the grown up Hoult (even though I'd seen a few Skins).

I also found it interesting that the English actors had American accents & American had English!

Hi Katherine! Oh, so fun to see another August Breaker here :) I also found the movie to be a visual treat, and sat thinking about it a long time after (I guess it's a good sign!)

Oh, I loved the American-English actor/accent mixing! (and thought Matthew Goode's American accent was absolutely impeccable :)) Thank you for dropping by!

Hahahah...I had to see what you thought of the film. Love that comment about bone structure & the fact that Tom Ford is amazing with costumes. & of course, I wanted to see it because of Nick. I loved him since his "tony" on skins. He can so act circles around Hugh Grant.

Really, I thought the movie captured the essences of that time period.

Hi Ori - he is a great young actor! It's nice to see him getting different kinds of work (haha, love the comment about him acting circles around Hugh!)
